The Weinersmiths have a unique knowledgeable/irreverant approach to scientfiic issues and the book raises many interesting questions.

This book by Whitlock and Schluter is an excellent textbook for beginning statistics students. The examples are all biological, but interesting and accessible even to those outside the field. This is the book that this site's creator uses in the classes he teaches at university. The book also has a website with some interactive statistics examples.
